A forklift, also called a counterbalance, lifts loads as heavy as 30,000 lbs. Despite being big and sturdy, these industrial equipment still bear the potential risk of accident or crash. In order to be safe, be sure to have operators put on the correct seat belt inside the forklift and make sure that up to standard safety features are on board. We all know that seat belts could save lives in the event of an accident.
Three-Point Seat Belt
The kinds of seat belts which could extend both across the upper body and over the lap are the three-point seat belts. These kinds of belts offer an extra safety degree by protecting your body. They are available in both bench-seat and buckle-seat kinds. The 3-point seat belts are offered in either retractable and non-retractable types.
Most modern motor vehicles available provide retractable seat belts. Although non-retractable kinds increase safety, retractable types provide a lot more comfort. It is truly not possible for a non-retractable seat belt to accidentally extend.
Lap belts
The type of seat belt which only extends over the lower portion of the body is a two-point lap belt. Most lap belts feature a push-button closure system and are non-retractable. So as to secure the seat belt, simply press on the belt button and the two sides would separate.
Circuit-closed seat belt
The kind of seat belt that forces a forklift operator to put on a seat belt is a circuit-closed seat belt. These seat belts have a micro-switch attached that sounds an alarm if an operator starts a vehicle and is not secured by a seat belt. The circuit-closed seat belts are made in both non-retractable and retractable lap-band kinds.
Narrow aisle forklifts are particularly designed to be able to fit down extremely narrow warehouse aisles. This offers some advantages to business owners like greatly increasing their space to keep items. Even smaller aisles could fit a forklift through them. Narrow aisle forklifts are famous for their maneuverability and not much space is required to move a narrow aisle forklift. Their design has enabled them to move without a lot of space due to the fact that most things that hinder movement have been squished up the main forklift body in their design.
These forklifts have a weakness in that they are quite slow. These forklifts will not cut it if you need it to move merchandise across large distances. This issue could be solved easily if you also have access to a standard forklift. Some companies choose to use the narrow aisle forklift to move the load to a central location. These things are then handed off to a standard forklift that is responsible to take it the bulk of the distance. Usually, narrow aisle forklifts could not move as much weight so they are just effective for loads that are small.
